THE GRIP - a poem about depression

Dark clouds loom, heavy and gray,

A weight upon my soul, day by day.

A suffocating fog, a silent scream,

Depression's grip, a haunting dream.

It creeps in quietly, without a sound,

A heavy burden that can't be bound.

A constant ache, a persistent pain,

A darkness that seems to never wane.

It steals my joy, it numbs my heart,

Tears fall freely, my world torn apart.

A maze of thoughts, a tangled mind,

Lost in darkness, trying to find

A ray of light, a glimmer of hope,

To break through the clouds, help me cope.

A gentle hand, a listening ear,

Someone to see, someone to hear.

But as I walk this lonely road,

I know there's hope, a future to behold.

For in the darkness, I find my strength,

A resilience that goes to great length.

I'll reach out for help, I'll seek the light,

I'll fight this battle with all my might.

With love and support, I'll find my way,

To brighter days, a brand new day.

Depression may linger, but I'll persevere,

With courage, determination, and no fear.

For though it's tough, and it may be long,

I'll find my voice, I'll sing my song.

So if you're struggling, feeling low,

Remember, you're not alone in this show.

Reach out for help, don't be afraid,

There's hope for healing, a brighter shade.

For depression may be tough, but you are tougher,

A fighter, a survivor, an overcomer.

Keep holding on, keep pushing through,

You're stronger than you think, and you will renew.

Remember, it's okay to not be okay,

Seek support, talk it out, come what may.

You're not alone, you're not to blame,

There's help, there's hope, a brighter flame.

So take a step, one at a time,

And know that your worth, it will always shine.

You're not defined by depression's hold,

You're a warrior, brave and bold.
